The 21 November 2014 a Roma la VOLUME Foundation! presents Empty, a new job Thomas Lange conceived for spaces via St. Francis de Sales 86/88, in collaboration with David Sarchioni.
The challenge faced by the German painter in his recent production is to experience a new way of interpretation of the declining practice of pictorial space in a three-dimensional architectural, while keeping true to her signature style.
The concept of Empty Chaos is loosely based on the ancient Greek cosmology to indicate the original void existed before the creation of the cosmos before established institution and defined. In ancient philosophy Chaos is the formless matter and crude from which to draw the Demiurge, a higher principle for the construction of ordered world. For Lange Emptiness is the chaos of life, a hidden extra dimension in which it pours in disorder manifesting itself through the experience of the artist painting in an explosion of colors and glowing images of origin memorial.
With this intervention, the artist imagined to bring the viewer directly under, between the chaotic twists and turns of his painting, urging an interaction of psychological impact, but also physical and sensory. The idea of walking by, born of meeting rooms VOLUME!, takes shape through action painting overflowing that takes place as the dialectic between instinctual drives and lucid intentionality, but never in a totally abstract, involving walls, floor, ceiling and hundreds of sculptural elements scattered in space, to trace the ideal path that leads from chaos to order. The architecture is made under, creating an original cavity, a "body" apparently shapeless and confusing which is consistent with the will of Lange to meet, in this new phase of his research, painting with the third dimension through an action impetuous and transfiguring.
