After the episode of Report on production Gucci in Toscana, There comunchiamo the Group's response.
“Gucci dissociates in any way from the content and form of the report broadcast Sunday 21 December as part of the Air Report. Ms. Gabanelli never place to Gucci any pertinent question of what he was shooting for five months. Hidden cameras or used inappropriately, only in selected companies artfully by Report (3 workshops on 576), are testimony to the fact Gucci.
Labor is not in good standing
The service has accused Gucci to recommend the use of “China's labor force at low cost”. Everything is false and without substance and highly defamatory. As is the phrase of the service : “….. within the company …there must be a nominee Italian…”.
Agreeing unbeknownst Gucci with laboratories that use cheap Chinese labor and not in order - sabotaging control systems in place - it is a scam from which Gucci dissociates and prosecute in all locations.
Gucci produces 100% leather goods in Italy employing over 7.000 workers including first-tier suppliers (1.981) and second-tier suppliers. Of these employees, about 90% are of Italian nationality, while all the 576 Italian companies are. All providers of first and second level are regularly monitored (about 1.300 verifications year, even at night) compliance with the rules and the proper treatment of people. Recall that night work, if carried out according to standard, is not a crime: is called overtime or shift work.
Gucci chain
Gucci deprecates the representation that he wanted to report a company that, contrary to what represented, years is working to keep production in Italy and will cover all the streets to protect their rights, its image and its brand, as well as the work of over 45.000 People in Italy for direct employees and supply chain.
The work on the chain, done continuously in recent years, enabled and allows the traceability of the entire supply chain itself in a transparent and shared with all involved (Trade Unions of the territory, Confindustria and CNA Florence). A model that should be valued and appreciated, as would emerge if Report is interested also to the over 500 other laboratories working in a healthy way.
That said Gucci will continue to monitor carefully to suppress all behavior contrary to the Protocol on the Chain adopted since 2009.
Laboratories represented in the service
Mr. Guidotti, through its wholly-Free World, contributed by half 2013, through Almax, turnover of accessories for Gucci 0,19% the entire production.
In recent months, Free World has undergone various checks, even at night, after which discovering irregularities relating to recruitment of staff.
Gucci has called for the legalization of such situations and the Free World has provided evidence that these irregularities were addressed and mostly resolved.
As for the apparent hesitancy inspector resumed hidden cameras, remember that inspections take place in two parts: the first is to control document and the second action. Television coverage focused on the first part. Recall also that the inspectors do not have coercive powers immediate, but audit. And the audit found irregularities that have been resolved.
The system implemented by Gucci allows to adequately remunerate the work of small entrepreneurs artisans provided that all the actors involved act responsibly; studies commissioned within the Committee of chain showed that a laboratory healthy and operated within the rules, allows the holder a profit of between 8% and 15%, remunerating workers in absolute respect of national collective agreements in force.
Gucci is not involved in any agreements between suppliers of 1st and 2nd level, in the case cited by the service between Almax and Free World, not consistent with the rules laid down in the Protocol on the Chain 2009.
The partial and biased representation of reality by the Report is therefore clear and tends to stigmatize the behavior of Gucci that instead it is entirely in keeping with the rules established by the social partners.
Product price
With regard to the price of the product, Report incorrectly compares the price of a stock to the public with the cost of a single processing step. I 24 EUR quoted by the service relate only partial assembly and do not consider the least, eg, the cost of the skin, the cost of the cut, the accessories, packaging, shipping and all that is necessary to make the bag available in store, factors that multiply up to 25 times that number.
Gucci strongly reiterates the correctness of its actions a commitment to make more effective the actions resulting from inspections, that will be increasingly numerous.
