Picasso in Florence

From 20 September to Palazzo Strozzi in Florence an important event dedicated to one of the greatest painters of the twentieth century: Pablo Picasso. A showcase of outstanding works from the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
The exhibition consists of approximately 90 production of works of Picasso and other artists, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, and a film by José Val del Omar thanks to the collaboration between the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. Among the exhibits are absolute masterpieces as Head of a Woman (1910), Portrait of Dora Maar (1939) and the painter and the model (1963) Picasso, also Siurana, the path (1917) and Figure and bird in the night (1945) di Miró, Harlequin (1927) Dalí and then designs, engravings and paintings of Picasso preparatory to the great masterpiece Guernica (1937), never been shown in so many outside Spain.
Curated by Eugenio Carmona (Professor of Art History at the University of Malaga, membro of trustees of the Museum Patio Herrerian di Valladolid, Centre National Art Museum and Reina Sofía museums della Commission Andaluza), The exhibition covers a very wide chronological period between 1910 and the 1963 and explores the relationship between Art and Culture, establishing the elements that configurarono the plastic transformation of the artistic consciousness in Spanish through cultural diversity through poetic or aesthetic denominators, coincident, shared or interrelazionabili.
