Has been awarded to Canadian Phyllis Lambert Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement 14. International Architecture Fundamentals, open to the public this year 6 months instead 3, from 7 June to 23 November 2014.
The decision was taken by the Board of the Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, on a proposal from the Director Rem Koolhaas, for the following reasons: “Not as architect, but as a developer and curator, Phyllis Lambert has offered an outstanding contribution to architecture. Without his participation, one of the few examples of absolute perfection achieved in the twentieth century, il Seagram Building a New York, would never have existed. The creation of the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal combines a rare vision with a rare generosity in preserving the architectural heritage of the key episodes, and allows you to study them in ideal conditions. The architects create architecture; Phyllis Lambert ha creato architetti…”.
The recognition Phyllis Lambert will be delivered to the Biennale Gardens Saturday 7 June 2014 pm 11, during the award ceremony and opening of the 14. International Architecture Exhibition.
