Plot
My Italian Secret tells the story of the cyclist Gino Bartali, the physician Giovanni Borromeo and other Italians who worked secretly to save Jews and fugitives from the Nazis during the Second World War. Bartali, the winner of the Tour de France 1938, made hundreds of trips carrying false documents in his bike. Dr. Borromeo invented a nonexistent disease to scare the SS and keep them away from the hospital on Tiber Island where it hid Jews.
My Italian Secret following the return to Italy of the survivors who tell their stories and thank the people who gave their lives to save strangers.
