The MedFilm Festival makes Roma dal 4 11th July to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding. The event will be held at the Casa del Cinema and the MAXXI Museum, and will celebrate its twentieth anniversary as part of the Italian Presidency of the EU; a GREAT FESTIVAL OF CULTURES bringing together the protagonists of the historical MedFilm, the oldest international event of the Rome Film, the first in Italy dedicated to films from the Mediterranean region and dialogue between countries of the two shores through the Cinema, window on the world to know and appreciate the value of diversity as a.
An intense program, for budget reasons condensed into 8 days of projections, which will seek to establish direct contacts with the multiform reality that enliven the varied cultural and political context Euro-Mediterranean. The Festival will tell the handover cultural between Greece and Italy, stressing the central role of the Mediterranean in the current European context, and the "need for culture", fundamental tool for the development of a new Europe that is able to understand the profound changes in its, and dialogue with the south shore and proactive in terms of real exchange.
To celebrate its 20 age, MedFilm Festival hosts for the first time in Italy as a Country Guest of Honour. The section will be composed of 12 film: three feature films, three documentaries and six short films, for a broad overview that aims to give visibility to some of the most talented and original writers of our cinema. So Lifetime Achievement Award 2014 and Mario Martone, who will collect the Prize 5 July at the Casa del Cinema and submit We Believed, grandiloquent and colossal fresco on the Risorgimento, realized on the occasion of 150 years of Italian unification. On the occasion of this important anniversary, the Festival creates the section Med20, that will host the prestigious tributes to filmmakers film med-European. As always strongly related to contemporary tale, MedFilm realizes the Festival, prohibitive in terms of economic, extremely eclectic edition, in which live many ideas in cinema: from fiction to documentary, from melodrama to comedy to film noir and experimental cinema. Within the program stands a strong presence in Europe this year that sees the protagonist doubly Italy. For the opening film still Egypt, Factory Girl with the European anteprima, of the film master Egyptian Mohamed Khan, Rome festival guest; on closing the Eastern Boys French Robin Campillo. Eight feature films presented in the Official Competition – Eros and Psyche Award edited by Giulio Casadei, which offers a balanced mix of great writers and young people entering. On behalf of the touching Ladder to Damascus, Syria veteran Mohamed Malas, for Italy's new work, all-female, Edoardo Winspeare, In God's grace, Greece's powerful "noir Mediterranean" Stratos Yannis Economides. The International Documentary Competition Open Eyes Award, cared for the fourth year by the director Gianfranco Pannone, offers a selection of 10 works, characterized by the looks authorial not without irony. Among the most important stands out the international premiere of Combat Mario Brenta and Karine de Villers, documenting rehearsals Orchids Delbono, the Moroccan Walls and People Dalila Ennadre that leads us inside the Medina of Casablanca, il libanese Birds of September in Sarah Francis, Travel through the streets of Beirut contemporary, il turco Once Upon a Time, Egypt's Cairo Drive and Spanish Sobre la Marxa.
Nineteen are the short films of the International Competition Award Methexis. The section curated by Alessandro Zoppo, collaborator of the festival, provides a snapshot of a changing world, through an extremely diverse and multi-faceted program that includes within it all of the major ranges of expression in contemporary cinema. If the North Shore will be represented by Italy, the South Shore will be told in the window Maghreb / Mashreq with an important selection of films from 10 Arab countries, including Syria, to whom the Festival is dedicating a homage / reflection on the reasons and especially the consequences of a terrible war that seems accenare to a truce.
Also this year confirms its participation in the artist Francesco Cuomo, who made the occasion of 20 years of the festival, five original works, valuable and prestigious awards that will go to the winners of the main categories of competitive MedFilm Festival 2014, among them the painting titled "Heart and Sweat MedFilm!"That will be awarded to the winning film of the Official Competition.

The Methexis Award will be awarded during a plenary meeting between students and inmates being held in the Prison of Rebibbia "new development" the 10 July.
