From the musical invasion of the island of San Pietro that, for the first time in the history of the city of Taranto, will host a drum session at the international starchitect Franco Purini, from the DNA dei project Deproducers a John Rutter, one of the most important living composers of choral and sacred music. Everything is ready for the second edition of MAP Festival: Music, Architecture and Parallels which will invade Taranto until 18 June. The innovative project takes the form of a sort of cultural transmediality that will bring the visitor closer to the musical heritage, artistic and landscape in its most varied declinations. More than ten appointments are scheduled MAP Festival, dalla musica, to architecture interpreted by on-site installations around the city, up to the "Lectio magistralis" signed by the Italian archistar Franco Purini, among the main exponents of Italian neo-rationalism and designed architecture. Through his writings and, above all, his designs greatly influenced the international environment.
The project, conceived and wanted for the second year by the Magna Grecia Orchestral Concert Institution, in collaboration with the Municipality and the Order of Architects of Taranto, will be the undisputed protagonist of an artistic revolution based on the concepts of community, cities to live in and urban settings. Not just the analysis of the relationships and the sinuous cross-media that exist between the two arts, music and architecture precisely, but also their contribution in all possible expressions of creativity: thanks to the Parallels, capable of weaving threads between different voices and expressions, between contrasting realities. “It is a festival that goes beyond all limits – says Piero Romano, artistic director of the Orchestra della Magna Grecia – creating exceptional connections between different arts. Music, architecture and parallels will have a capital, Taranto, and this is also thanks to the support we have had from many city entities, sensitive to cultural initiatives such as MAP. We really want culture to become a common good".
The program
Saturday 11 June there will be Drum Circle, rhythmic event with free access on which 100 NON musicians will create live music together with the Magna Grecia Orchestra. Scenography of the session, which will be the only MAP Festival event streamed on its social channels, will be theisland of San Pietro, which will host a concert for the first time in its history. Franco Purini, nationally renowned architect, terrà Monday 13 June an lectio magistralis to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Taranto, in which he will exhibit original ideas and innovative solutions in the urban planning field. The designer of the Torre Eurosky, the tallest civil building in Rome and one of the tallest residential towers in Italy, will compare itself with the thousand-year-old art exhibited at MArTA. Wednesday 15 June, in the Five Motors warehouse, in an industrial architecture context, i Deproducers, project born from the inspiration of Vittorio Cosma, keyboardist, former member of Premiata Forneria Marconi and winner of numerous gold records in collaborations with, among others, Fabrizio De Andrè and Pino Daniele, Gianni Maroccolo, bassist in the past for Litfiba and CCCP – Fedeli alla linea, Roberto Angelini, guitarist who boasts collaborations with Niccolò Fabi and Pino Marino, and several participations in the band of Propaganda Live, and Riccardo Sinigallia, songwriter and producer of songs as “The description of a moment” of the Tiromancino or “They weren't flowers” by Coez. The group will play music “DNA”: unreleased songs, evocative images and a scenography built specifically to make the philosopher's scientific conference spectacular, novelist and evolutionist Telmo Pievani, which will retrace the history of mankind fromA wise man up to the latest achievements of genetics.
Merger between cities, architecture and sound to amaze and excite spectators: on the day of Thursday 16 June, also in Piazza Garibaldi there is an artistic flash mob to the tune of dj set of Ultra Naté, queen of house music in the late 90s and author of the very famous “Free”. At the end of the Festival, Saturday 18 June, it will be “Look at the world”, concert by John Rutter, choral, composer, one of the best known and most appreciated choir and orchestra conductors on the international music scene. L’evento, which will be held inside the Great Mother of God Co-Cathedral, vedrà la partecipazione di 130 choristers and 70 orchestra teachers. Saranno presenti ARCoPu, l 'Regional Association of Apulian Choirs, and L.A Chorus, and the participation of the choir masters is also expected Andrea Crastolla, Annarita Di Giovine Ardito and Agostino Ruscillo. Rutter himself will then be inspired by the spirituality and art of Cathedral of San Cataldo, and will compose the sound picture, multisensorial work destined to become must and a fixed appointment at the MAP Festival in the years to come.
Garibaldi Square, up to 18 June, for the entire duration of the MAP Festival, will come to life with the open-air installation/exhibition of Francesco Di Dio aka Effe with his project #leragazze, which he will return, through pop language, the incisiveness of the women who have made and make a difference. The City will be colonized by the installations on site, designed exclusively for the MAP Festival by Studio New Fundamentals Research Group of Giuseppe Fallacara and Ubaldo Occhinego, which will make some corners of Taranto magical. The MAP project was created thanks to the precious contribution of Varvaglione1921, the BCC of San Marzano, Kyma, Ninfole, Teleperformance, Development Program and Five Motors.
