A Villa Manin (Codroipo-Udine) Dedicated to the sample Man Ray, edited by Guido Comis and Antonio Giusa in collaboration with the Marconi Foundation in Milan, scheduled 13 September 2014 January 11 2015.
The exhibition features more than 250 works, brothers photo, objects, paintings, drawings and experimental films and traces the life and work of one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century.
Among the themes addressed by the exhibition: his artist friends – as early as the period of New York, when he made friends with Marcel Duchamp, and more so in the years in Paris, Man Ray attended many of the most important twentieth century artists including Francis Picabia and Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Giorgio De Chirico and Constantin Brancusi, just to name a few; the female figure – the life and work of Man Ray were marked by the encounter with glamorous women: Kiki de Montparnasse, Lee Miller, Meret Oppenheim, Juliet Browner, and many others that were often true muses; Man Ray and cinema – The creativity of Man Ray was also expressed in the experimental film shot in years, considered among the masterpieces of surrealist cinema.
To document this manifestation of talented visual artist there is in fact a special section curated by Carlo Montanaro. The film will be included in the exhibition and will be screened as part of the cycle of side events ever hosted in Villa Manin.
