Zoo giant animals Cracking Art colors Reggia di Caserta majestic monument, extended on approximately forty-four thousand square meters, for the whole summer 2016 with the installation “recapping Reggia“.
Thanks to this initiative, the Royal Palace of Caserta was enriched it over 50 works of art of recyclable and recycled plastic, depicting wolves, rane, snails, suricati e rondini. The works were placed at the main entrance and along the tunnel, the so-called "Telescope", that connects to the central axis of the Park.
Cracking Art is an artistic movement consists of six international artists, since the first year of birth (1993) highlight the intention to radically change the history of art through a strong social and environmental commitment and revolutionary use of plastics, evocative of an increasingly close relationship between natural and artificial reality.
Regenerate the plastic means subtract the toxic and devastating destruction of the environment; make the works of art located in urban settings, monumental and historical, it means communicating, through an innovative aesthetic language, and express a particular sensitivity to the landscape.
During the period of the exhibition you can be purchased at the ticket office of the Palace a mini-sculpture "Rana", reproduction of the larger ones used in the installation, at the special price of 10 €. The proceeds from this sale will be used for the restoration and maintenance of the fountains of the Park.
This activity is part of the Cracking Art "The Art Project Rebuild Art" active since 2012, which it consists in the provision of a number of works to promote fundraising for the preservation and enhancement of the national artistic heritage, and for financing projects having a cultural objective.
The artists Cracking Art They decided to invade the Royal Palace of Caserta with five types of animals, each with a color and a specific meaning:
The wolf communicates the idea of the pack, action for the common good, but also the strength and individual strength;
The meerkat is a social animal: It conveys an idea of resistance thanks to its great capacity for collaboration;
The frog symbolizes the metamorphosis, the transformation and the connection between the water and the earth element: It is the most onomatopoeic of animals: da cra cra – stagnazione – a cracking cracking – movimento;
the snail, animal topical because its home is associated to communication, the symbol of e-mail, recalls the organ of hearing, then the listening dowry;
Finally the swallow, It suggests the idea of travel but, contemporaneamente, Also cohabitation, because it nests in residential homes.
