Abed Mahfouz: la bellezza che rende le donne divineSCENARIO

Nella cornice di un’ edizione di AltaRoma AltaModa luglio 2013 ricca di suggestioni, come quelle delle maison storiche Renato Balestra, Curiel Couture e Sarli Couture, Abed Mahfouz, ormai fedeli alla kermesse capitolina da oltre 24 edizioni, presenta la collezione Autunno-Inverno 2013/14 “Tesori nascosti incontrano petali rubati”.

Nel magnifico Complesso Monumentale di S. Spirito in Sassia, si ha il privilegio di essere nuovamente iniziati al mondo di bellezza e lusso abitato dalle Donne divine dello stilista libanese. Un altrove di Donne eleganti, sofisticate, aristocratiche, che in questa nuova collezione risplendono piu´ che mai tra piogge di gemme e ciondoli scintillanti. Mahfouz sorprende, incanta, trasforma gli abiti in tesori e le donne in Dee. Applicazioni di fiori rubati alla botanica, strati di tessuto, incrostazioni di cristalli, spille e forme metalliche impreziosiscono accentuando le profondita´ di volumi e proporzioni, senza appesantire la leggerezza dei panneggi. Le modelle incedono irraggiungibili ma leggere, fluttuano nei tagli a sirena dal gusto vintage e sembrano appena sfiorare il cat walk con le onde morbide dei tessuti: illusion tulle, crin, pizzo Chantilly, filet, crepe di seta. I colori, rispetto alla delicata collezione Primavera/Estate dello stilista, si bruniscono nell´Autunno/Inverno in corallo e rosso rumba, senza rinunciare al verde menta, al cipria, al blu Maui, al verde bottiglia, creando meravigliosi i contrasti di luce tra le sete preziose.

Anche questa sfilata di Abed Mahfouz, magicamente, sorprende e rinnova la meraviglia. Affermare che i tagli degli abiti sottolineano la silhouette della donna, che ne mettono in risalto la femminilità, e´ riduttivo. Il genio vede La Bellezza, egli prende per mano il bello e lo fa sfilare, destandoci dall´incubo di un mondo grigio, distratto, a tratti disperato. Il magico connubio del genio visionario con la tecnica di un esperto sarto libanese di abiti da sposa, regala una couture di abiti che non fasciano i fianchi delle donne, li accarezzano. Che scivolano sulle gambe senza costringerle, che incorniciano le spalle con leggerezza e le schiene, velate o nude, sono sempre preziose tra gemme o dettagli incredibili che impongono allo sguardo di fermarsi sorpreso dal bello. Silvia Venturini Fendi, Presidente di AltaRoma AltaModa, ha dichiarato che la couture è vero e proprio patrimonio dell´umanita´ e Roma una citta´ dove ogni creativo vorrebbe essere. In effetti, ci si alza dopo una sfilata di Mahfouz come svegliandosi da un sogno bellissimo e pieno di energia, di speranza. Quanta bellezza, tanta bellezza, a tratti quasi troppa tutta insieme. Grazie ad Abed Mahfouz, per farci accorgere e sorprendere dalla bellezza possibile, che lui col suo genio vede e rende visibile, anche a noi.

Abed Mahfouz, the Lebanese genius who sees The Beauty and turns a woman into a goddess.

In the frame of an Alta Roma Alta Moda July 2013 edition full of allures, such as those suggested by the historic maisons Renato Balestra, Curiel and Sarli Couture, Abed Mahfouz, now at the Capitoline festival more than 24 editions, presents the Fall-Winter 2013/14 couture collection ´´treasure trove meets botanical snatchers´´.
In the magnificent historic building S. Spirito in Sassia, you have the privilege of being initiated into the world of beauty and luxury inhabited by the divine Women of the Lebanese designer. An elsewhere made of stylish, sophisticated, aristocratic women, in this new collection shining more ‘than ever, surrounded by clusters of gems and sparkling pendants. Mahfouz surprises, enchants, turns dresses into treasures and women into goddesses. Botanical snatches, several fabric layers, encrusted crystals, brooches and metallic shapes, all the ornament elements embroidered, beaded and jewelled embellishments, add interest to the elegant dresses, stressinging the contrasts and the depth ‘of volumes and proportions, without adding extra weight to the soft materials. The models gait unattainable but light, floating in vintage-inspired mermaid cuts, and just seem to touch the catwalk with waves of soft tissues: illusion tulle, crin, lace Chantilly, refined filet and crepe silk. The chromatic selection, compared with the delicate Spring/ Summer collection of the designer, in the Autumn/ Winter darkens into hot coral and rumba red, without giving up absinthe acid, stucco, Maui blue, bottle green, all of which share an iridescent darkness or lux sheen when applied to silk blends.
The magic repeats itself: also this Abed Mahfouz´s collection charms, enchants, renews the wonder and the surprise. Saying that the cuts of his dresses emphasize woman´s silhouette, or that they increase the value of femininity, would be an understatement. The genius sees The Beauty, the beauty holds his hand and walks the catwalk: he awakens us from the nightmare of a gray world, distracted, at times desperate. The magical blending of visionary genius with the technique of an expert Lebanese wedding dresses taylor, offers couture clothes that do not wrap around women´s hips, caress them. That glides on the legs without forcing them, framing the shoulders lightly, and the backs, veiled or bare, are always embellished with precious gems or incredible details that farce the eye to linger surprised by the beauty. Silvia Venturini Fendi, President of Alta Roma Alta Moda 2013, stated that the couture is heritage of humanity, and that Rome is a city where each creative would want to be. In fact, you wake up after a Mahfouz fashion show as if you´ve been dreaming a beautiful dream, full of energy and hope. So much beauty, at times almost too much all at once. Thanks to Abed Mahfouz, to make us aware and amazed by the beauty that he sees with his genius, beauty he makes visible to us, too.
