a.KNACKFUSS: Human Colonies

Like Noah’s Ark, Human Colonies is a collection depicting space colonization, a permanent human state occupying planets. Earth inspirations turns into futuristic forms, including folkloric elements. Certain touches remind us of space while others evoke several nations feeling the need to build a new habitat in order to keep all the different cultures alive. Modernistic fabrics, such as latex, coated cotton with paper effect and padded mesh, are intertwined with casual materials like denim, contrasted with fine silk voile and noble cotton wool. Prints show nebulae within space and little aliens popping-up, offset with folklore-inspired designs. Patterns refer to utilitarian items and work uniforms, as well as traditional menswear. Classical draping adds an interesting twist to familiar shapes, while exploring innovative forms and new volumes.
